What it is

Your match, played again on a real table

A replay viewer for Magic: The Gathering Arena. It takes a game recorded by the free AvSoFt Mod plugin and rebuilds it in three dimensions.

It is not a summary and not a list of events. Every card is where it was, face up or face down, tapped or untapped, with its counters and its power and toughness. Attacks are drawn from the creature to what it attacked. Abilities go on the stack and resolve. Life totals move when something moved them.

The replay shows you only what the game showed you while you were playing. Nothing that Arena hides from a player is read or revealed: that is a deliberate limit of this project, and it is the reason it can exist at all.

How it works

Three steps, and the third one is watching

You choose which games to keep. Nothing is recorded unless you ask for it.

  1. 1

    Install the plugin

AvSoFt Mod is a free deck tracker for MTG Arena on Windows. It adds two panels to the game and a button that records a match.

  2. 2

    Record a game

Press the record button at any point during the match, even halfway through: the game is always saved complete, from the very first turn. The only thing to remember is to press it before the match is over.

  3. 3

    Watch it again

Drop that file into the viewer and press play. Nothing to install, nothing to upload, no account to create.

Share a match

Send the file, and they can watch it too

A replay is one file. Send it to a friend and they can watch the whole game in 3D, exactly as you saw it.

Every recorded game is a single file on your computer. Send it the way you already send files, in a chat, by email, in a Discord message. Whoever receives it opens this page, drops the file in and presses play.

They need no plugin, no account and nothing installed to watch it: the plugin records, this page plays back, and the two jobs are separate. It is the simplest way to show someone the turn that decided the game, ask why a line went wrong, or settle an argument about what actually happened.

What makes it different

A replay, not a log

Other tools read the game log and show you lists. This one rebuilds the table.

Questions people ask

Everything you are probably wondering

Does MTG Arena have a replay feature?

No. Magic: The Gathering Arena has never had a way to watch a finished game again, and there is no replay button anywhere in the client. That is the gap this tool fills: AvSoFt Mod records the game while you play it, and this viewer plays it back.

How do I watch a replay of my MTG Arena match?

Install the free AvSoFt Mod plugin and press its record button while you play. It works at any point in the match, even long after it started, and the game is still saved complete from turn one. When the match ends you get a file on your computer: open this page, drop that file in, and the match is rebuilt on a 3D table you can step through.

The game is already going and I forgot to press record. Is it too late?

No, and this is the part people get wrong. The record button is not a stopwatch you have to start in time: press it in the middle of a match, or on the very last turn, and what you get is still the whole game from the first turn, not just the part that came after. So you can wait, see that a game is turning into a good one, and only then decide to keep it.

Is the 3D replay free?

Yes, completely, with no limits, no account and no sign-up. It runs in your browser and there is nothing to install to watch a replay.

Can I try it without recording a game first?

Yes. There is a demo match ready inside the viewer: open it and press play, and you see exactly what your own games will look like.

Can I share a replay with a friend?

Yes, and it is the simplest part. A recorded game is one file on your computer: send it the way you already send files, in a chat, by email, in a Discord message. Whoever receives it opens this page, drops the file in and presses play. They do not need the plugin, an account or anything installed.

Does my match file get uploaded anywhere?

No. The file stays on your computer and is read by your own browser. The replay is rebuilt entirely from it, and nothing about your game is sent to any server.

Can it show my opponent's hand or deck?

No, and it never will. The replay only shows what the game itself showed you while you were playing. Nothing the game hides from a player is read or revealed, and that is a deliberate limit of the project, not a missing feature.

What do I need to run it?

A browser with JavaScript and WebGL, which is every current desktop browser. Recording a game needs the AvSoFt Mod plugin for MTG Arena on Windows; watching a replay needs nothing but this page.

What makes this different from other MTG Arena tools?

Other tools read the game log and show you lists, tables and statistics. This one rebuilds the table: the cards, where they were, what attacked what, which abilities went on the stack, and every counter and life change, step by step, in three dimensions.
